How to get to Namaste from Helsinki/Tallinn by car?

A ferry trip from Helsinki to Tallinn takes 1.5 – 3.5 hours, depending on the ferry and time of year. You can also get to Tallinn from Helsinki by airplane or helicopter.

The trip from the Tallinn harbour to Virtsu ferry port is about 140km and you should therefore reserve at least 2 hours for this. There is a ferry from Virtsu to Muhu island every other hour, and every hour during peak season. The ferry trip takes half an hour. You can find ferry timetables, prices and contact details from the website of AS Saaremaa Laevakompanii (www.laevakompanii.ee), See the section on the Virtsu – Kuivastu ferry connection.

It is good to get to the ferry port at least half an hour before the ferry departs if you do not have an advance booking. Advance bookings are worth making, especially in the summer and round the year for Friday night travel to Muhu or Sunday afternoon travel to the mainland. Please make an advance booking at: www.laevakompanii.ee.

Driving instructions from Tallinn to Virtsu ferry port:

From Tallinn, take the southbound Pärnu highway (road number 4) and drive towards Pärnu until you get to the Haapsalu junction at Ääsmäki. Turn westward towards Haapsalu (road number 9) and drive for about 40 km until you arrive in Risti. Now take the southbound road (road number 10) towards Virtsu. This road leading to Virtsu will eventually take you to the ferry port.

What to do at Virtsu ferry port:

Redeem your advance booking or buy a ticket, and show your car registration papers to the clerk. You will need these papers to redeem an advance booking. NOTE: If you made an advance booking, take the Bron-marked lane. This will allow you to avoid the often long queues on the right.

Driving instructions from Kuivastu port to Namaste:

Once you arrive by ferry at Kuivastu port on Muhu island, take the road for Kuressaari and drive ahead for about a kilometre, turning left at the Pädaste/Simiste roadsign. Continue on this road for about 4km until you see a sign on your left saying LÕUNARANNA SADAM. Turn left at the sign. Drive straight ahead for about 500m and you will see the Namaste sign and stone fences on the right. Tere Tulemast! Alternatively, we can pick you up from the Kuivastu ferry port.
